Loreley Festival- Tour of Germany Weber´s music with its capacity for illustration was convincingly portrayed by the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Budapest State Opera under the baton of HELGE DORSCH. ... a pleasant opera evening in the fascinating acoustics of the Loreley Open Air Stage. Wiesbadener Kurier In the overture, with its symphonic qualities, the orchestra convincingly displayed idyllic sounds from the clarinets and horns, which soon led to a dramatic outburst and finally to the liberating cry of jubilation at the end. The lively conductor, HELGE DORSCH, led his musicians in shaping this work with lots of temperament and astoundingly sure instincts, paying particular attention to the individual groups in the orchestra. Rather than orient himself in one direction, he had to conduct to the left and to the right, since, for technical reasons, the orchestra was seated at the sides of the stage and not in front, as is usual. Nonetheless, he mastered this challenge brilliantly throughout the entire evening. This was already apparent at the entrance of the chorus, which filled the air with an admirably rich tone. The Symphony Orchestra and the Chorus of the Budapest State Opera left an outstanding calling card with this scene. ...it is not customary to applaud the orchestra during the performance, but after the interpretation of the entr´acte, the audience´s ,,gaffe" may surely be forgiven.
